ICDLAB at BLEDCOM24: A Useful Insight on Well-being Culture

For the second year in a row, ICDLAB took part at BledCom, the International Public Relations Research Symposium organized by University of Ljubljana Faculty of Social Sciences, which integrates the academic and the professional worlds to talk about sustainability while collecting innovative views on the matter.

In the 31st edition (July 5 – July 6, 2024) the general topic was “Public Relations and Human Well-being”, a theme which deeply characterizes ICDLAB’s interest. For this reason, we decided to focus our analyses on a brand-new certification process, initiated in Italy with the aim of reporting on organisational well-being: the Family Audit. As a certification process, set up in 2010 by the Autonomous Province of Trento, Family Audit focuses on the issues of work-life balance, inclusion, social equity, helping the spreading of a proper organisational culture. It is actually adopted by numerous organisations, mostly located in the North East of Italy.

Our proceeding, “Well-being. A regenerative and structured approach to corporate welfare: engagement, inclusion, sustainability and communication”, took into consideration also the achievement of certain Sustainable Development Goals (Agenda 2030, Goals 3, 5, 8 and 10), for the reputation of organisations and for stakeholder engagement activities. The work consisted of two levels of analysis: the first level took into account the analytical criteria of the certification, the proposed actions and the benefits for the organisations involved, for the employees and for the territory; meanwhile, the second level analysed the activities undertaken by organisations to achieve increasing levels of well-being, both internally and externally.

In order to foster the art of well-being within organisations, the innovative tool set up by Family Audit identifies significant actions to improve the use of communication as a strategic lever. Particularly, the study demonstrates how the organisational climate should be oriented towards the well-being of its employees, in order to contribute to their direct involvement in the construction of a convergent plan of action.
